A NUN, and one of the very few women of the Ming–Qing with a record of sayings in the Jiaxing canon. Lay surname Jin, lay name Jin Shuxiu; her dharma name was Xuanzong and her style Baochi. Widowed, she took the robe, and became the dharma heir of Tuiweng Hongchu, thirty-third generation of Linji. She was first abbess of Miaozhan at Jiahe, then of Nanxun at Yanguan, and afterwards at Lingyan. Her record of sayings runs to two fascicles.
