Fayan-school master of Baoen in Hangzhou (蔣 clan), who left home young and mastered the three trainings. After roaming the Chan assemblies of Min and Yue without finding his mind, he met Fayan Wenyi at Linchuan and teacher and student matched; he then dwelt in a hermitage on Damei mountain and worked to restore the Xuansha orthodox line in Wuyue.
