Abbot of Guangshan monastery on Mt. Bafeng in Taiping prefecture — the same mountain held by his dharma-grandfather Guzhuo Jun. He was a teacher of consequence in his day: the Buxu Gaoseng Zhuan records that Cuifeng Deshan 'burned his incense as an heir to the venerable Tan'.
