Ming Linji master, dharma heir of Wanfeng Shiwei (1303–1381) and second abbot of Sheng'en monastery on Mount Dengwei at Suzhou, where he cast the great bell and built its tower in 1388. Dragons and elephants came out of his gate, and the age called him the Sheng'en Patriarch. After his death his stupa was raised beside Wanfeng's. His surname is not recorded, and his record of sayings and his stupa inscription are both lost.
