Song Linji master of the Huanglong line at Letan in Longxing, a native of Nanxiong (何 clan). He first called on Dawei Zhe without result; under Huitang Zuxin he long failed to penetrate the wind-and-banner koan until Zuxin asked whether he had watched a cat stalk a mouse — eyes unblinking, whole body single-directed.
