Song Linji master of the Huanglong line at Heshan in Jizhou, an heir of Sixin Wuxin. His surviving 語錄 includes a sermon surveying all five houses — Linji, Yunmen, Caodong, Guiyang and Fayan — only to dismiss even a clear grasp of them as 'matters at the edge of light and shadow' beside the question of birth and death.
