Chongzhen Master 益州崇真和尚

School: Caodong | Teacher: Xiangzhou Lumenshan Chuzhen

A Tang/Five-Dynasties Chan monk of Chongzhen temple in Yizhou (modern Chengdu, Sichuan), recorded in the Jingde Chuandeng lu as one of the six dharma-heirs of Lumen Chuzhen of Xiangzhou, and thus a third-generation descendant of Caoshan Benji in the Caodong line. Only two of his exchanges survive, including the celebrated answer to 'What is Chan?' — 'Angling for the jade rabbit in a clear pool.'
