Of the Li clan of Fengdu in eastern Shu. Orphaned of both parents at six. Tonsured in middle life under Huanzhu Ming, he took full ordination under Erdu Daotai and inherited his dharma. He carried the line into Chu (Hubei), where he founded and rebuilt: Yuexia cloister at Huangling in Yiling (1665), and Dabei monastery on Mt. Foxing at Zigui. His stele says those who came to take refuge with him were 'not fewer than 1,250' — the number of the Buddha's own assembly. His heirs were Yuechuang Zhishen, Fachuang Zhiyuan and Juechuang Zhihong.
