A Southern Song Chan master of the Linji/Yangqi line, abbot of Xichan monastery in Fuzhou, known by the hermitage-name Ci'an. A dharma-heir of the great Dahui Zonggao, he left a one-fascicle recorded sayings collection and is remembered for blunt, iconoclastic sermons deriding abstract 'talk of the mystery' as so much wasted breath.
