A Northern Song Chan master of Ciji cloister in Xingyuan prefecture (modern Hanzhong, Shaanxi), dharma-heir of Fayun Faxiu of the Yunmen school. His surviving exchanges are terse and concrete — asked the meaning of the Way he replied 'thirty-seven stages from here to Chang'an', and to the question of the colour-taking mani-jewel, 'Green green the bamboo, lush yellow the blossoms.'
