Ming Chan master styled Dufeng, of Tianzhen. His Essential Sayings (Jiaxing canon B159) were compiled by his student Wushen. He taught an austere ascetic house-style, urging students to revive the dhuta practices of Shakyamuni and pre-Baizhang tradition and invoking Zhaozhou's thirty years of silence, Biandanshan's diet of acorns, Danxia's single cloth robe and Furong Kai's refusal of subscription books; his practice instruction combines huatou work with nianfo.
