Ming Linji master of Xiushui; dharma heir of Xiao'an Xingmi. His one surviving encounter is with the monk who became his heir: Wunian Zhiyou of Shouzhou came to him, and he asked, 'Where have you walked?' - 'The south.' - 'And how is the Buddha-dharma there?' - 'The mountains and rivers are no different.' - 'How does my hand resemble the Buddha's hand?' Zhiyou stood a long time in silence, and Eryang said, 'Don't go saying there's no difference.'
