Fangguang Youda was a Song Chan master of the Fangguang cloister in the rear grotto of Mt. Nanyue in Hengzhou, a dharma-heir of Dawei Huaixiu in the Linji/Huanglong branch. His surviving sermon plays on Zhaozhou's old sayings and ends in the earthy register the Linji house loved: 'The turnips of Zhenzhou have flavour!' — followed by a shout.
