Fogu Xingwen 佛古行聞

School: Linji | 1610–1666 | Teacher: Linye Tongqi | Students: Shipu Chaozhi

From Tongchuan in western Shu (surname Zhang, mother Liu), born at noon on the 22nd of the 6th month of 1610. Tonsured at five at Qinglian monastery after an illness, he saw lights on Emei at seven and carried the doubt from then on; at twenty-one, in 1630 at Bao'en in Jinling, the blaze of the pagoda's light broke it open. He met Linye Tongqi in 1643 and received his charge in 1644. He held Xianglin at Taicang, Caoxi at Pinghu, and Qianfo and Yuanning in the capital. He died in the small hours of the 23rd of the 11th month of 1666, aged 57, and was interred west of the Xianglin hall; sixteen heirs, of whom Shipu Chaozhi succeeded him.
