臨安府鹽官廣福院惟尚禪師 (1074–1140/41), lay surname 曹; 14th generation below Huineng in the Yunmen line, dharma heir of Puzhao Ziying (d. 1117). He awakened after failing to answer his master's probing on Nanquan's cat: sent back to the monks' hall, he suddenly understood and said 「古人道，從今日去更不疑天下老和尚舌頭，信有之矣」, presenting a verse beginning 「須是南泉第一機」; when his master raised a fist and asked what he would do just then, he overturned the meditation seat. He held Shousheng and Jianfu in turn. After his death Zhang Zishao composed his stupa inscription.
