Daowu of Guannan in Xiangzhou, a dharma-heir of Guannan Daochang in the Hongzhou line of Mazu. He awakened on hearing a village shaman's spirit-music and had it sealed by his teacher; he famously ascended the hall in a lotus hat and robe, beating a drum and blowing a flute, calling himself 'Lu the Third' and singing 'Strike up the Guannan drum, raise the Deshan song'.
