Lay surname Peng, of Weichuan village, Yunlin, Fuzhou fu; styled Guantao. Born in the spring of 1625. At nineteen, finding the taste of the world flat, he went to Mt Xiang to learn the dharma that leaves the world. He called on Tiesuo of Raoshan at Luyang and took the full precepts at the Longhu ordination platform in Shaowu. Sealing himself in a hermitage on Juexian peak in Xu, he turned over the line 'not thinking of good, not thinking of evil - which is the Reverend's original face?', and suddenly had an opening. After wide travels he came to Abbot Sheng of Tianjie (Juelang Daosheng) and received transmission. He held Chongxian Xianxiao on Mt Gaoting and Shouchang in Xincheng. He died on 10/7 of 1678, aged 54, with 35 dharma-years. His heir was Qiyuan Xingquan of Gaoting.
