Yuan-dynasty Chan master styled Gufeng, personal name Dewang, who taught at Baoning and at Jingci (the lamps head his heirs' section 淨慈德禪師法嗣). He tested the young Benjiong on his matching verses to the Liangshan Ten Oxen with 'where is the ox?', found him remarkable and made him his attendant; Benjiong later opened the dharma at Jueyan in Suzhou in 1366 offering incense as Gufeng's heir, and went on to head Lingyin.
