Southern Song / Yuan Chan master styled Gufeng, resident in Fujian. The Xu chuandeng lu catalogue lists two dharma heirs under him, Wanshan Zhengning of Gushan and Yina Jie of Shuanglin. Wanshan came to him in Fujian after awakening under Wuming Xing at Shuangta; Gufeng put Zhaozhou's 'a dog has no buddha-nature' to him, which he could not answer for over half a year before penetrating it — and even then Gufeng said 'you have it, but you are not there yet.'
