Linji master of the capital. Dharma name Chaozi 超自, sobriquet Heyi 何一. He received the charge of Xingkong 性空 — one of the twenty-two heirs of Feiyin Tongrong, who alone crossed the Yangtze with a single bottle and bowl to carry Chan into Hebei, where the prefectures of central China and Qi-Qing turned to him. Heyi lived at Chongning hermitage in the western suburbs of the capital, sealed in retreat reading the canon for years, with hundreds coming daily to question him. He preached under princely patronage.
