Zujue of Huayan at Zhongyan (1087–1150), styled Chi'an and surnamed Yang of Jiazhou. A scholar who once wrote polemics against Buddhism before converting, he ordained in 1115, awakened reading Fushan Yuanjian's essay, and became a dharma-heir of Yuanwu Keqin; he wrote a six-hundred-fascicle history of the buddhas and patriarchs along with commentaries on the Huayan and Diamond sutras.
