A heir of Shanduo Zhenzai in the Linji line. He entered Jinming Chan monastery in Jiaxing on the third day of the tenth month of 1683. His incense honours Shanduo as his late master, and Jie'an (Wujin) as his 師翁 — his grand-teacher — placing him one generation below Shanduo and two below Jie'an.
