Jianfu Chenggu 薦福承古

School: Yunmen | d. 1045

A man of Xizhou, a learned scholar before he took the robe, who studied with the living masters Dayang Jingxuan and Liangya of Fuyan on Nanyue. Reading Yunmen's recorded encounters he had a sudden awakening, and settled in the stupa of Chan master Hongjue on Mount Yunju, where students flocked to him and he was known as the Stupa-master Gu. He first preached at Zhishan; in 1037 Fan Zhongyan, governing Poyang, invited him to Jianfu. He died on the 4th day of mid-winter, 1045.
