A man of Minxian in Fuzhou, of the Deng clan. When KUCHAN ZIJING was teaching at Yishan he went to see him. One day Kuchan asked: 'Since once seeing the peach blossom, right up to now he has never doubted — where is it that he does not doubt?' The master ROARED WITH LAUGHTER AND WALKED STRAIGHT OUT, and Kuchan deeply approved him. When Kuchan moved to Lingyin, he served as inner secretary; he went home to see his aged mother. He became abbot of the King Asoka (Yuwang) monastery at Qingyuan (Ningbo).
