From Lingling (surname Jiang), born on the 4th of the 8th month of 1621; illness at thirteen persuaded his father to let him take the robe. He was tonsured by Jianqu at the Dongle hall and wandered to Tiande, Xilian and Luohan; Qiezhuo gave him the name Yiwei. In 1653 he read the recorded sayings of the Old Man of Yishan, was astonished, and brought him to his own hermitage; on the Buddha's enlightenment day of 1657 he received his charge. He held Hongsheng, Shoufo, Shengming, Zhusheng, Baojing and Zuisheng, and died on the 7th of the 9th month of 1684, aged 64; his stupa stands to the right of Benshan monastery at Nanyuan.
