Styled Lianyue, of the Jiang clan of Yuechi. After his mother's death he heard a monk chanting the line about the 'burning house of the three realms' and turned from the world; he cut off his own hair, went to Fuling, and took the precepts under Poshan Haiming. Accompanying his master to a feast, he took a fall on the road — and in the exchange that followed, the dharma passed. He entered Dongyin monastery on Mount Jiuqing at Zunyi in 1658 and afterwards held Juelin, Baolun, Duda and Baoshou in Sichuan, and Longxing, Jingde, Yuquan and Tianhuang in Hubei. He compiled his master's records, for which the lamps call him 'a meritorious servant of Shuanggui.' He died on the tenth of the seventh month, 1691, aged seventy-eight.
