Tang-dynasty Guiyang-school master at Lingyun in Fuzhou, famous throughout Chan for awakening at the sight of peach blossoms in bloom after thirty years of searching — the episode known as 'Lingyun sees the peach blossoms and clarifies the mind'. Guishan Lingyou (771-853) read his verse, probed his understanding, and sealed it.
