Ye-clan monk of Hangzhou's Longhua monastery. Ordained mid-Zhenming era (Liang), studied Vinaya deeply, then turned from lecturing to seek 'the firm dharma' after an awakening experience; traveled to Min and received the mind-transmission of Changqing (Huileng). Returning to Zhejiang, received by the Prince of Danqiu, resided at Liutong cloister; later summoned by the King of Southern Han (Qian clan) to Gongchen cloister, and finally returned to Longhua to gather students and teach.
