A monk of Yuezhang cloister in Suzhou and a dharma heir of Tuiweng Hongchu (Jiqi/Lingyan Hongchu), and thus of the Sanfeng line: Hanyue Fazang → Hongchu → Neishao Zhizhong. At his opening of the dharma hall he burned incense first for Sakyamuni, then for Mahakasyapa and down through the line to Fazang, and finally for his own master, 'Old Reverend Lingyan, thirty-second generation of the orthodox Linji line, formerly resident at Guoqing on Tiantai.'
