Pinjixiang Zhixiang 頻吉祥智祥

School: Caodong | 1637–1709 | Teacher: Yuanjie Jingying

Caodong master, of the Li family of Macheng in Hubei. As a child he would leap for joy at the sight of a monk; he left home at seven and took the full precepts at nineteen under Fumu of Shifeng, then studied the sutras and treatises. He went down to Jinling and called on Lang Zhangren, and then to Yuanjie Jingying at Yunyan, where he had an insight into the 'three not-thats' huatou and received the entrustment. He was abbot of Longhua on Bingshan at Huzhou and of Yunfeng at Hengzhou. He wrote the Fahua jing shoushou, notes on the Chanlin baoxun, and a record of sayings. After his death his body is said not to have decayed, the hair and beard continuing to grow.
