Asked 'what is the realm of Piyun?' he said 'in broad daylight there are no idlers here.' On Yunmen's riddle-graph — 'not quite the character yi, not quite the character ba' — he answered in verse: 'Not yi, not ba: the myriad forms are made clear right in this. Even if you cleverly expound a thousand marvels, it is neither a ditty nor a sutra.'
