Song Linji master of the Huanglong branch at Qingyuan in Jizhou, dharma heir of Huitang Zuxin. Author of the single most quoted passage in all of Chan — that before he practised, mountains were mountains; when he entered, mountains were not mountains; and now, at rest, mountains are simply mountains again. Four dharma heirs are recorded.
