School: Caodong | 830-900 | Teacher: Dongshan Liangjie
From Fuzhou. First studied under Deshan Xuanjian alongside Yantou and Xuefeng, then became a dharma heir of Dongshan Liangjie. Achieved great enlightenment at age twenty-seven and became abbot of Mount Qin. Known for the 'one arrow piercing three barriers' exchange.
