Song-dynasty Yunmen-school master at 瑞相 in Ruizhou, one of the fifty-nine dharma heirs of 法雲法秀 (Fayun Faxiu, 1027–1090, the 'Yuantong' master of Dongjing, himself an heir of 天衣義懷). In his recorded sermon he surveys the assembly and says that a true master 「隨處提綱，應機問答，殺活臨時」 — raises the essential everywhere, meets each question as it comes, kills or gives life as the moment demands.
