Chan master of Shimen in Jiaxing, honorific 真覺, dharma heir of Kongyan You of Zhongzhu (Hangzhou) in the Linji line, 大鑑下第二十一世. His small-convocation teaching presses past every stock gesture: the ten directions are a seamless iron wall Bodhidharma never knew, a holeless iron mallet Kasyapa never grasped.
