Chan master of Shishuang in Changsha, a dharma heir of Huanglong Huinan, 臨濟宗 黃龍派, 南嶽下十二世. On pilgrimage with 夾山齡 he studied under 佛日; when the two heard Huangbo's small convocation and missed its point, his companion beat him and stormed off while he alone stayed on — and soon awakened to the Huanglong teaching, becoming famous enough to be ranked with 文關, 西英 and 邵武.
