Senior monk (上座) in the Linji line, listed in 古尊宿語錄 among the dharma heirs of Xinghua Cunjiang. He is best remembered for a shouting duel at Huayan's assembly in Xiangzhou — shout answered by shout until he bowed, then cried 'Look at this blind fellow's rout!' and clapped his way back into the ranks. Fengxue Yanzhao, then serving as rector, defended him to the furious Huayan as 'a descendant in Linji's house — this is simply his portion.'
