From Yongfeng, lay surname Yu, born 1630. At twenty-one he left the world and became a monk under Xuejian Daofeng at Boshan, who gave him the Chuanzi 'hiding the body' case to work on; he broke through on the Poisao Duo story after a night of hearing ghosts cry. He received Xuejian's transmission in 1668 and held Boshan Nengren in Xinzhou, Gaoquan and Yingshan. He died in 1706, aged seventy-seven, after fifty-four years in robes. His record carries both an account of conduct and a stupa inscription.
