Tianyi Juxiang 天翼巨翔

Surnamed Zhang, of Lingxiao in Shaanxi, born on the fifth of the twelfth month, 1662 (early 1663). His parents gave him to Jingyue at Lingshan monastery, who shaved him. At nine he was studying the Śūraṅgama and stopped short at 'if the original nature is pure, whence come the mountains and rivers?' At nineteen he took full ordination from Tenghuan of Xishan; at twenty-four he went to Gumei Dinglie on Mount Furong. In 1689 Dinglie sealed him in retreat in the Purple Bamboo Grove, where he broke through, and at Dinglie's death he received the entrustment. In 1691 he took the Miyin monastery on Mount Wei in Hunan and Guanghua at Furong. He died on the ninth of the fifth month, 1695, aged thirty-four, fourteen years a monk.
