Chan master of Wangxian shan in Yizhou, a dharma heir of Tianyi Yihuai in the Yunmen line, 南嶽下十一世. Asked for the ordinary one-phrase matter he answered 'Heshan beats the drum'; pressed whether that was where a student should apply effort, 'Guizong drags the stone.' His sermon is a list of drugs — 'Nantai lindera, Beihai gastrodia, Silla aconite, Chenjin cinnabar.'
