Weizheng of Zhongnan shan, a native of Pingyuan surnamed Zhou. He trained under the dharma master Quancheng at Yanhe monastery in his home prefecture and received the dharma from Puji of Songshan, then entered Taiyi shan, where his hall filled with students. He is remembered for the clam episode: Emperor Wenzong of Tang was fond of clams, and when one in the imperial kitchen would not open, the emperor burned incense and prayed over it — it opened to reveal the form of a bodhisattva, which he enshrined in a sandalwood box and gave to Xingshan monastery, then questioned his ministers about it.
