Tang-dynasty master of the Northern School (北宗), dharma-heir of Yuquan Shenxiu. A native of Anlu, surname Cao; he first trained under Lang of Minfu cloister studying the Lotus and Vimalakirti sutras, then entered Shenxiu's room. Invited to Anguo cloister, he later moved to Wutai shan where he taught for over twenty years. Died 727, aged 81.
