Qing Chan master of Xiufeng in Suzhou (1610-1676), a native of Changzhou, surname Gu, ordination name Faheng. He was tonsured at fourteen at the Xiyin quarters of Huqiu; at twenty-five he accompanied Gunan Tongmen to see Miyun Yuanwu at Tiantong, where he washed dishes and endured repeated blows. Gunan's taunt 'you've washed bowls a long while — have you touched the bottom of one?' threw him into great doubt, and he broke through one night while rolling up a blind; Miyun smiled his assent. When Gunan opened the dharma at Gunan he made him head seat. He died in 1676 aged 67.
