Northern Song Yunmen-school master, abbot of 雪竇 in Mingzhou, a native of Quzhou of the Du family and dharma heir of 保寧覺印子英. His recorded sermon turns on discernment: 「向這裏辨得，羅紋十字，一任橫行；苟或未然，切忌亂走」 — 'Discern it here and you may cross the grain in any direction you please; if not, whatever you do, don't go wandering about.'
