Yunmen-line master (1024-1084), full title 南昌武寧延恩法安禪師. A native of Linchuan 臨川, surname Xu 許; ordained at twenty. He first studied under Xuedou Chongxian and, after Xuedou's death, attached himself to Tianyi Yihuai, whose dharma he inherited. After a decade at Ruyi cloister on Mt. Huang he settled at Yan'en monastery in Wuning, refusing the magistrate's offer to rebuild its ramshackle halls on the grounds that coerced donation 「是名作業,不名佛事」 — yet a full monastic community grew there over ten years. Known for the saying 「萬事隨緣,是安樂法」 (take all things as they come — that is the law of ease). Died in the 8th month of Yuanfeng jiazi (1084), aged 61, with 41 summers.
