From Yongjia in Wenzhou, lay surname Ye. He was tonsured by Tuiweng Hongchu at Lingyan in Suzhou and later received his dharma. He held Guoqing and Zhenru on Mount Tiantai and Tongxuan, and in 1705 named Bin Yuanzhang to succeed him at Tongxuan. His record runs to eight fascicles; he also left a set of matching-rhyme poems to Hanshan.
