Caodong master, dharma heir of Mianshi Jingyun of Huguo monastery on Mt. Tiantai — himself an heir of Ruibai Mingxue. He had earlier sat with Miyun Yuanwu at Tiantong and with Ermi at Dongshan. One night, sparring with Ermi, the master called for his attendant, who fumbled the lamp and put it out. 'And the fire?' snapped Ermi. 'It's right here,' said the attendant — and Zhijing suddenly saw the point. He held Jiezhu monastery at Jishan, Yuzhi hermitage at Wujiang, and Luohan monastery at Lichuan. His recorded sayings run to six fascicles.
