Southern Song Linji (Yangqi) master, 太平隱靜圓極彥岑禪師, styled Yuanji 圓極. A native of Taizhou (Huangyan per the 五燈全書, Xianju per DILA). Described as aloof and uncompromising to a degree rare in his age, he served Yunju Faru for seventeen years in the scriptorium; when Faru died he returned to Zhejiang and attached himself to Zhengtang Bian at Daochang, who soon made him head seat. He first taught at Bianshan in Zha, then led a series of major monasteries, retiring at last to Huazang Daochang in Changzhou, where he died. His 20-fascicle recorded sayings circulated with a preface by Vice-Minister Zeng Zhonggong.
