Abbot of Dagang in Nanjing and of Guang'en monastery in Beijing. In 1452 he was ordered back to Dagang in Nanjing and granted the title Cishan. When Jingcheng, a monk of Puji monastery on Wutai who had worn himself out on the sutras without settling his mind, came to him for confirmation, he put a few questions that Jingcheng could not answer, set him on 'does a dog have buddha-nature', and on his awakening gave him the robe and whisk.
