Northern Song Linji master (997-1062), 雲峰文悅, of Nanyue. A native of Nanchang, surname Xu 徐; tonsured at seven at Longxing monastery and travelling the Jiang-Huai region with a staff from nineteen. He awakened to the mind-seal under Dayu Shouzhi and served him diligently for eight years. Nanchang issued a formal request that he take up Cuifeng, and he later moved to Yunfeng, the mountain that gives him his name. He died on the 8th day of the 7th month of Jiayou 7 (1062), having lived 66 years and kept 59 summers as a monk, and left seven dharma-heirs.
